Vanessa grew up on a cash-crop farm east of Fond du Lac, WI. They have always loved being outside. They moved to La Crosse in 2014 and worked in the school district as a Language and Culture support teacher until 2025. Now Vanessa is pursuing work in the fields of conservation science and/or urban agriculture. They enjoy hiking and traveling with their wonderful partner, riding their bicycle year round, and volunteering for Mississippi Valley Conservancy. Vanessa is happiest when they are out bicycle camping along the trails or full of soil in a food garden. 2026 is their first AmeriCorps placement, and they are so excited to help people and nature connect for the benefit of both!
