This month:  Blinded by the Light: Bright Ideas for a Darker Sky

Night sky brightness has increased 10% each year for the past decade. When today’s newborn turns 18 60% of the stars we can see with the naked eye will be invisible to them. This is almost entirely due to the use of excessively-bright, blue-rich LED lighting.

Poorly executed outdoor lighting is rapidly degrading the night experience for all of us with glare and loss of true darkness even many miles from small cities. It has extraordinary negative impacts on other species we share the planet with.

Join Scott Lind from the Kickapoo Valley Dark Sky Initiative for a talk about implementing smarter LED outdoor lighting to save energy, reduce glare, benefit wildlife, help prevent light pollution & preserve our night skies.

Scott is a licensed professional electrical engineer and master electrician who has worked for 35 years on a wide variety of power and lighting designs.

Kickapoo Valley Dark Sky Initiative is a conservation initiative focused on providing education and resources for individuals, businesses, and communities to prevent light pollution and protect dark skies in the Kickapoo Valley, and beyond.
